Just got back a little while ago from this event with Bishop Gene Robinson speaking here in Salt Lake City. It was good to actually see him. I had expected to find myself disagreeing with him on some things, but that turned out not to be the case. I was especially encouraged to hear from him his view that the Episcopal Church needs the church in the 2/3rd's world more than the church there needs the Episcopal Church, and the need to work together with them despite the conflicts, more for our sake, not just theirs. And he made a good point that I think can’t be emphasized enough, that church is messy. Overall, a good talk, with some things to take home and think about as well.
